How We Make Money

KnowYourClaim.io is a free website. We earn revenue in two ways:

1. Display advertising (Google AdSense): We display advertisements on our site through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to serve ads that may be relevant to you based on your browsing history. We are paid based on ad impressions and clicks. The ads you see are selected by Google's automated systems — we do not choose which specific ads appear.

2. Attorney referral links: Some pages on our site contain links to attorney referral services, legal matching platforms, or individual law firms. When you click these links and take a qualifying action (such as requesting a free consultation), we may receive a referral fee. These relationships may include services such as LegalMatch, Martindale-Nolo, JustAnswer Legal, and similar platforms.

What This Does NOT Affect

Our calculator results, settlement estimates, and educational content are never influenced by our advertising relationships. Specifically:

• Calculator formulas are based on published industry methods (the Multiplier Method for personal injury, state-published TTD/PPD rates for workers' comp)
• We do not adjust estimates to make attorney representation seem more necessary or beneficial than it actually is
• Settlement ranges are derived from publicly available legal data, not from advertiser input
• The order in which loan programs, options, or recommendations appear is based on eligibility criteria and relevance to your inputs — not on compensation

Our Editorial Standards

We believe that the best way to earn your trust is to be genuinely useful. Our approach:

• We cite our data sources (CA DWC, NY WCB, FindLaw, SBA.gov, etc.) so you can verify the numbers yourself
• We explain the formulas we use, not just the outputs — so you understand why we're showing you a particular number
• We tell you when an attorney may not be worth the cost (for example, on small claims where the contingency fee would exceed the additional recovery)
• We update our data regularly and display "last updated" dates so you know how current the information is

FTC Compliance

In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), we disclose all material connections between KnowYourClaim and any companies, products, or services mentioned on this site. Any link that may generate revenue for us is a "referral link" or "affiliate link," and we make reasonable efforts to identify these relationships clearly.
